DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Supervises the development, implementation, evaluation, and coordination of dental programs at an assigned health clinic; performs professional dental services.
- Supervises the day-to-day operations of the assigned dental clinic(s), including responsibility for personnel, supplies and equipment, dental laboratory, and policies/procedures.
- Performs professional chairside dental procedures and advises patients on preventive and restorative dental care.
- Participates in community outreach programs, health fairs and other dental health programs.
- Evaluates and recommends improvements and/or changes in operational and administrative procedures, supplies, and equipment that would enhance patient care.
- Maintains optimum clinic productivity and efficiency.
- Collects, reports, and evaluates utilization data.
- Assures quality of services rendered.
- Will be required to work at more than one clinic location.
WORKING CONDITIONS Requires the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements within very fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make rapid closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within somewhat fine tolerance demands; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fine tolerances with large equipment as an extension of the worker.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a Doctoral degree in Dentistry from an accredited dental school.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of experience in chairside dentistry within the past five (5) years are required.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS A valid license to practice dentistry in the State of Texas and a current annual registration certificate are required.
PREFERENCES**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
•At least 5 years as licensed Dentist
•At least 1 year working with pediatric patients
•At least 2 years’ experience in a management position
•2 yrs+ experience in Public Health
•Speaks Spanish

SALARY INFORMATION GENERAL FUND POSITIONGrants & Special funded positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
