About the Role:The Water and Land Resources Division is seeking an HR Administrative Staff Assistant. This role is crucial for improving processes, managing archival records and coordinating HR-led meetings, recruitments, and program administration, with a key focus on Laserfiche data and records management. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service and communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively. This position demands excellent organizational skills, the ability to meet tight deadlines, and the capability to handle multiple critical tasks. Flexibility, and an outgoing personality are essential, as well as the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities. The successful candidate should be able to complete complex tasks with limited guidance, react with appropriate urgency to situations requiring quick turnaround, and make effective decisions without complete information.
This position follows a hybrid work model, blending remote and in-person work.

About the Division: The Water and Land Resources Division (WLRD) is at the forefront of King County’s efforts to protect and restore clean water and healthy habitat and strengthen the resilience of communities, environment, and infrastructure in the face of climate change. We are a dedicated workforce of more than 450 supported by an annual budget of ~$280 million. WLRD has a strong track record of developing innovative strategies to protect working farms and forests, restore habitat, improve water quality, and provide county residents with equitable access to green space. We house the Land Conservation Initiative, which aims to preserve our last, most important lands. Our forestry and agricultural programs help individuals protect their lands and support local food production.We house four salmon recovery forums where we collaborate with scores of partners to plan, design, and build habitat projects. We partner with regional jurisdictions to help residents and businesses reduce the threats posed by production, use, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. We are the primary service provider to the King County Flood Control District, contributing to flood preparedness and constructing and maintaining facilities that restore rivers and reduce risk. Our one true local service to unincorporated King County is stormwater management, protecting water quality, reducing flooding, and building and maintaining facilities. Finally, we provide regional science and laboratory services to an array of customers, maintaining high-quality data sets used to assess water quality and habitat trends, and provide Best Available Science to inform decision making. Enjoy training, comprehensive benefits , and growth opportunities.Job DutiesWhat You Will Be Doing:- Manage administrative functions for the Human Resources work unit including drafting and/or reviewing correspondence, maintaining visual management tools, supporting outreach and recruitment events, processing purchases and invoices, and assisting with new employee onboarding and orientation.
- Organize and maintain HR databases, records, and personnel files in Laserfiche in accordance with King County records and retention policies while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Assist with the implementation and administration of collective bargaining agreements.
- Provide excellent customer service; conduct research and analysis; respond to inquiries and provide timely information to employees and leadership.
- Maintain tracking logs and organizational charts and update applicant/employee status in the HR or Applicant Tracking systems.
- Create and implement human-resources-focused information guides and/or streamlined information systems to help employees understand required policies and procedures and available resources.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, SkillsQualifications You Bring: - Administrative experience at a progressively responsible level, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position.
- Experience with enterprise-level records management systems (e.g. Content Manager), including handling confidential, archived, and electronic records (e.g. Laserfiche).
- Skilled in project research, including web-based research, data collection and analysis, and spreadsheet management.
- Ability to compile and analyze human resources data and trends to include turnover, hiring, retention, and other workforce-related statistics.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals, and to communicate information in a tactful, and professional manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively and independently, organizing multiple competing priorities and producing high-quality, detailed work within tight timeframes while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Highly proficient in the use of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint) and other office productivity tools.

Supplemental InformationWorking Conditions:- Work Location: The Human Resources team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson, Seattle, Washington 98104. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
- Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
