    Job Summary

    Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Analytics and Communications, the incumbent is responsible for employing specialized knowledge of technology equipment and software applications to support faculty, staff, and students by preparing and producing various multimedia projects. The incumbent provides training, consultation, and technical support to faculty, staff, and students on the following: software applications, media equipment, remote learning platforms, and learning technology tools.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Media Production - Oversees production including initial consultation with faculty, staff or management about objectives, securing location, setting up lighting and equipment, operating camera and equipment, directing, assisting with all aspects of production, producing the desired media, editing and incorporating any final feedback from faculty, staff or campus leadership.
    • Consultation & Trainings - Provide face-to-face and virtual support to faculty, staff, and students on a variety of technical issues related to video and audio production. Provide consultation to faculty, staff, and students with technical support on how to use remote learning tools, such as webinars and live streaming video.
    • Media Tools Support - Oversee, publish and distribute media content within Kaltura Media Console. Oversees Video Streaming Software Console by assigning roles and ownership of media. Oversee and facilitate captioning requests from faculty and departments using captioning software.
    • Vendor liaison - Maintain relationships with related vendors and host providers for video streaming and auto captioning. Respond to inquiries and requests from users for technical, media-related assistance as escalated through support process with appropriate vendor.


    Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    The ideal candidate possesses a comprehensive understanding of copyright laws and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ensuring full compliance when posting videos to servers. They demonstrate expert-level proficiency across a wide range of software applications on both Mac and PC platforms, including Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Lightroom, Audition, Audacity, Camtasia, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Media Encoder, alongside a solid grasp of social media/Web 2.0 concepts. With a clear understanding of the instructional technology mission on campus, they bring proven consulting experience, having successfully collaborated with faculty and staff on multimedia productions. Their familiarity with current technologies, key drivers, and trends in content delivery, as well as hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), positions them to effectively support digital learning initiatives. The candidate is highly organized and adept at planning, capable of identifying necessary components and resources to ensure timely and accurate project completion. Strong verbal and written communication skills enable them to convey technical and non-technical information clearly, while their attention to detail, ability to work independently in fast-paced environments, and collaborative spirit make them a valuable team player committed to achieving shared goals.

    Education and Experience

    • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Film or Multimedia Design or a related field and two years of related professional or technical experience required.

    Preferred:

    • Four years of related professional or technical experience

    • Knowledge of video production and formats

    Physical Summary

    • Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5,178 (Step 1) - $5,605 (Step 5) per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,178 (Step 1) - $7,543 (Step 20) per month.

    Time Base

    1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

    Duration of Appointment

    This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
