Office of Administration, Division of Accounting (OA-DOA) seeks an energetic person, who is detailed oriented, to join our Payroll team. If you enjoy a challenging and fast-paced environment with deadlines, this is the job for you.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
- Review and analyze payroll checks before distribution to State agencies.
- Assist with entry of statewide direct deposit forms.
- Review and analyze vendor checks prior distribution.
- Review MCHCP lump sum deductions.
- Review imputed wages for W2 accuracy.
- Review deceased employees are set up correctly for W2’s.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Working knowledge of State Statutes, Code of State Regulations, Statewide and OA Policies relating to payroll.
- Working knowledge of SAM II HR, SAM II Financial and the Data Warehouse.
- Know how to create reports and spreadsheets in Microsoft Access and Excel.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the unit and with other OA divisions.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices and ability to apply them to varied accounting transactions.
- Two or more years of financial experience with a governmental agency or a private sector accounting, finance or brokerage firm.
OR
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in Accounting. (Business or governmental accounting experience (above entry level) involving the maintenance or recording of financial data may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required college education.)
