This position serves as the P&P Southwest Regional Training Coordinator and will service the Southwest Region. A large role of this position is being responsible for tracking, scheduling, and reporting training records of Probation and Parole staff using the GPS learning management system along with spreadsheets and other programs.
Job duties will include but are not limited to: - Attend regional monthly management meetings.
- Schedule and coordinate regional onboarding.
- Develop relevant, dynamic, and applicable lesson plans and curriculum for various job titles and needs.
- Serve on divisional and regional committees including but not limited to the Training Advisory Committee.
- Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate a wide array of training.
- Review and update lesson plans.
- Audit training files.
- Prepare training files for archiving.
- Record keeping including tracking and data entry of regional staffs training hours.
- Processing training requests, evaluations and scheduling lodging for regional staff.
- Schedule training for new staff and staff who are promoted to supervisors.
- Coordinate training schedules with trainers at the Regional Training Centers.
- Presenting divisional training within the region.
- Collaborate with team members within the RTC Unit.
- Training development - assessing state, divisional and regional training needs.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with staff within the region, division, department, Training Academy and Central Office.
Minimum Qualifications: Five or more years of experience in the field of adult corrections, adult probation and parole, or civil or military police law enforcement, with 100 or more hours serving as primary instructor in employee training and development
(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to four years of the required experience, at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year - a minimum of one year of experience is required)
Preferred Qualifications/Skills - Prior training experience and the skills needed to create dynamic and relevant curriculum/lesson plans to meet the training needs of Probation and Parole Staff
- Be comfortable with utilizing virtual training platforms and be equally confident and effective in a traditional classroom setting.
- Must be highly organized
- Proficient computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Possess excellent communication skills and exceptional customer focus
- Overnight travel and lodging will be required
All requested documents MUST be received by the closing date listed. Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:
- A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00 pm (noon) and 5:00 am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or the command center).
- A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restrictive housing/segregation unit at any facility.
The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
