    To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION



    NOTE: INTERNAL POSTING, OPEN TO TPWD EMPLOYEES ONLY.

    Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Support Services, this position is responsible for oversight of Strategic Planning and Inspections for the Division. Serves as the Fleet and Property coordinator for the LE Division. Assists with the administration of various Law Enforcement Division programs. Oversees technology and special projects efforts, including administration of records management systems and related systems and applications Assists in the development and maintenance of web applications to meet the needs of the Division. Assists with the administration of Law Enforcement Division programs. Supervises the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

    Law Enforcement Duties:

    Oversees the Fleet Coordination activities for the Division, including vehicle order, purchase, upfit, and assignment to ensure the procurement and utilization of equipment essential to the execution of law enforcement activities. Assists as an instructor at the Game Warden Training Academy and in-service training at locations statewide as assigned. Assists with Homeland Security operations and Emergency Management activities and may work in the State Operations Center. Confers with local law enforcement, court officers, and state officials concerning department activities. Coordinates and conducts LE patrols as assigned.

    Program or Position Specific Duties:

    Serves as the Information and Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC) member for the division. Directly collaborates with agency partners including Texas Division of Emergency Management, Department of Public Safety, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, State Auditor's Office, Texas Facilities Commission, State Office of Risk Management and other agencies relevant to program development, operations, training, and administrative requirements. Serves as a point of contact for Legislative Budget Board performance measures reporting and projections. Works collaboratively with agency information technology staff and confers with other law enforcement agencies concerning technology activities or programs. May serve on multi-agency committees as appropriate.

    Supervisory Duties:

    Supervision of others to include onboarding, performance evaluations, personnel actions, time approvals, travel voucher approvals and offboarding tasks. Required to participate in supervisory training as assigned by Human Resources and/or divisional leadership. Supervises and manages commissioned and non-commissioned personnel including Technology Specialist.

    Marginal Job Duties:

    May be required to perform law enforcement recruitment duties to include attendance at career fairs and/or representation at community events. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with Agency, Division and Department rules, regulations, and procedures.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.

    Graduation from the Texas Game Warden Training Academy.

    Experience:

    Eight (8) years of experience as a Texas Game Warden from the date of graduation from the Game Warden Training Academy.

    Licensure:

    Commissioned as a Texas Game Warden by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

    Must possess a current license as a peace officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).

    Must possess a valid class "C" or higher Texas Driver's License.

    NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon maintaining required licenses and certifications.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to Law Enforcement.

    Skill in oral and written communication.

    Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite, Virtual meeting platforms (MS Teams, Zoom, Webex, etc) and/or Adobe products.

    Skill in assessing administrative problems and implementing appropriate solutions.

    Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to staff and the public.

    Ability to interpret and apply state/federal statutes, laws, regulations and provisions of TPWD Code, Texas Penal Code and Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.

    Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.

    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, employees, and the public.

    Ability to communicate effectively.

    Required to operate a state vehicle.
    Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays.
