    Job Location: This position will be located at 930 Wildwood Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109.

If so, our team may be the place for you. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in health data informatics, data management, and/or health information analysis. This position will be responsible for assisting with Missouri’s public health response efforts by providing support to Local Public Health Agencies (LPHAs), hospitals, laboratories and other health care providers with respect to their reporting needs to Missouri’s electronic disease surveillance system, ShowMe WorldCare. This position will help assist with the transition from manual to electronic entry of laboratory results, case reports, and other reportable information into ShowMe WorldCare and other critical public health systems throughout DHSS.

    The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

    • Provide support for the maintenance and enhancement of the ShowMe WorldCare surveillance system for reportable conditions and other public health datasets and systems
    • Prepare and submit reports; perform quality assurance checks and data cleaning; and design/test/validate/deploy system enhancements or maintenance upgrades
    • Provide training/support to end users of various public health surveillance systems and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including program staff, informatics staff, vendors/contractors, providers, laboratories, ITSD staff, and others as needed on informatics projects and to advance data systems to meet national standards for interoperability and data modernization
    • Use critical thinking skills and a teamwork approach to identify and implement process improvements (e.g., development of automation to replace manual processes
    • Other duties as assigned related to interoperability and data modernization projects


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or other related technical assistance; or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, and/or work experience
    • 2-4 years of experience with data analysis of electronic health reporting/health information exchange or related field
    • Basic knowledge of statistical software (R, SPSS, SAS, etc.) and ability to effectively use data querying tools
    • Strong preference for basic knowledge of: Health Level 7 (HL7) standards (2.3.1, 2.5.1, etc.); Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC); Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED) standard vocabularies in regard to health systems and health data transactions
