Human Resources Generalist Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital 1901 Pennsylvania Avenue, St. Louis, MO. 63133 Semi-Monthly Salary: $2,134.14 * Annual Salary: $51,219.38 Scheduled Hours: 0830-1700 (Saturday/Sunday off) Work Area: Human Resources In this position, you will operate as a team member, providing engaging, interactive training for leaders, team members and administration of all levels within our department. This challenging, responsible, independent, and rewarding position provides you the opportunity to develop and deliver training for all levels of HCPH staff with a focus on Facility leadership development.
In addition, this role will provide leadership in HCPH talent acquisition efforts and serve as a partner to the DMH’s Recruiting Center of Excellence. Along with colleagues at HCPH and DMH, this HR team member will model a positive, service-oriented approach. The position will report directly to the HR Director with a dotted line to the CEO’s.
Responsibilities Consultative Services and Leadership
- Collaborate with administrators, managers, faculty and staff to understand goals, objectives and priorities of assigned units
- Ensure the integrity of Human Resources’ structures, policies and processes to provide consistent and positive stakeholder experiences
- Collect and analyze workforce data, communicate with organizational leaders for planning and staffing decisions, make recommendations for process improvements and assist with trend analysis
- Operate with minimal guidance, and be a self-directed learner who is flexible and adaptable to changing environments
- Demonstrate customer focus, collaboration, confidentiality, integrity and a commitment to diversity and equal opportunity
- Perform other duties as assigned or is necessary to provide HR service and support to the campus
Employee Relations & Policy Compliance
- Effectively provide employee relations, leadership, counseling, partnership and investigations of sensitive and confidential matters including employee performance, equity complaints, policy interpretation and conflict resolution
- Ensure compliance with DMH collected rules and regulations, policies, Facility processes and procedures and state and federal employment law
Talent Management
- Provide performance management counseling and training; monitor completion of assigned units
- Guide assigned units on value-added onboarding and thorough offboarding processes
- Recommend, develop, provide, and/or oversee training, education, and resources to increase employee development and engagement
- Support employee retention via survey data collection
- Ensure compliance with all required university and unit-level trainings
Recruiting
- Serve as the liaison with the DMH’s Recruiting Center of Excellence for the campus overall and for assigned facility
- Provide HR expertise to general staffing
- Represent HCPH in the recruitment Initiatives
- Lead orientation and onboarding for new staff members
- Work with leaders in assigned units on talent acquisition needs
- Sourcing and screening candidates, which includes the applicable reference check requirements.
- Coordinating or preparing offer letters.
- The role will focus on general recruitment efforts, however, will participate in supervisory roles, nursing practitioners, clinicians, medical personnel and other office roles.
- The role will directly coordinate the scheduling and planning of the panel interview and all associated record keeping.
- Coordination of internal and external hiring events to fill critical vacancies.
Employee Communication
- Develop and disseminate employee communication materials and reports in collaboration with the HR Executive Director; topics include pulse surveys, compliance requirements, performance management
Employee Engagement & Training:
• This role will survey and track new hires from day 1 to the conclusion of their 6-month probationary period in coordination with the Employee Engagement and Retention HR specialist or designee.
• The ideal candidate will facilitate
HR 101 training for incoming and new to role supervisors and managers, implementing the best practices for optimal employee engagement.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.) Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis for denying consideration to any applicant.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with formal training and/or educating adult learners.
- Experience and knowledge of training methods and techniques
- Training and investigative experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, Canva, Kahoot!, Poll Everywhere, Webex and Teams.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Special Requirements: - Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to drive and travel throughout the state of Missouri including when occasional overnight stays to conduct training and attend meetings.
- Ability to conduct training sessions that last up to 6 hours.
- Ability to carry up to 40 pounds of training equipment/materials
