    Introduction

    About the Position:
    Performs duties as an armed court security officer ensuring the safety of all persons at the Scottsdale City Court. Enforces court security procedures in accordance with Arizona Supreme Court Administrative Order 2017-15 and City Court procedures under the direction of the Court Security Manager. Completes Arizona Supreme Court mandatory Security Training. Abides by the Arizona Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees and, as applicable, the Arizona Code of Judicial Conduct. Visually patrols internal and external areas of the buildings including the courthouse and parking lots and responds to emergency situations. Duties may include potentially high-risk situations involving the safety of Court personnel and the public.

    Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The midpoint salary is $30.74 per hour.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience:
    • A High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
    • Three years of police officer experience, private security OR an equivalent position in the military.
    • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.

    Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
    • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
    • Must successfully complete a shooting proficiency skills evaluation per ACJA 5-306: Court Security - Firearms, using the AOC approved Court Security Officer (CSO) course of fire within first 30 days of employment.
    • Must attend and successfully complete a 40-hour Arizona Supreme Court's Court Security Officer Training Academy within 90 days of employment per Arizona Code of Judicial Administration (ACJA) §5-304.
    • Must attend the Security Officer Firearms Training Academy within 180 days of employment pursuant to ARS §12-299.10.
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

    Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.
