This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Administrative Support, and will be located at the
Lewis and Clark State Office Building located at 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, Missouri.This position is an integral part of an accounting team who serves others while working to increase the transparency, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information distributed within and outside the department. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a small unit whose role is critical to perform fiscal analysis, research and resolve problems, and provide financial information in the areas of grants and financial reporting. Ability to problem solve, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines are important skills for this position. - Review grant applications for accuracy, clarity, appropriate calculations and completeness, prior to departmental approval. Monitor and submit applications and awards on behalf of the department.
- Ensure chart of account codes including grant codes and budgets for awards and amendments are established to comply with reporting requirements, in the state’s accounting system, and Salesforce, our grants platform.
- Calculate and process Requests for Reimbursement of grant funds from numerous federal and other grantees through various systems.
- Take an active role to develop and prepare financial statements, reports, analysis, and reconciliations for various funds in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) for internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyze data collected on various monthly and quarterly reports; identify and research accounting issues and suggest adjustments and/or journal entries to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Compile and analyze data for the preparation of financial reports such as:
- Assist with the preparation of the state’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report;
- Work with the team to review GASB exposure drafts and statements for potential impact;
- Reconcile revenue and expenditure data in preparation to close out grants;
- Review and establish fiscal year reference file updates (chart of accounts).
- Participate in review and update of policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Equivalent to those typically gained by - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with specialization in accounting, finance, public or business administration or closely related area; and with zero to two years of professional government experience in accounting, auditing, purchasing, budgeting, or fiscal management.
- Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required education.
- Earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in the specific areas may substitute on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of two years of the required experience at a rate of 24 earned graduate credit hours for one year of experience.
- Knowledge of Code of State Regulations related to fiscal and procurement activities, and Code of Federal Regulations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel
