The City of Irvine seeks high school students to serve on the High School Youth Action Team for the 2026/2027 school year. The High School Youth Action Team (HSYAT) consists of student representatives from high schools in Irvine, who organize teen activities and represent their peers in various community programs.
To be considered, you must be a high school student entering 11th or 12th grade at a high school within the Irvine city limits, and able to serve on the Youth Action Team through June 2027.

Community & Library Services is responsible for an array of services and facilities for City residents and visitors. Responsibilities include class registration, facility reservations, family and child services, animal care, aquatics, sports, leisure, library services, open space/trails, parks, and a fine arts complex.

I nterview: After a thorough review of applications, those candidates deemed most qualified as reflected in their application will be invited to an interview.
Background Check : A thorough background investigation will be conducted prior to appointment for candidates 18 years of age and older.
Medical Examination: A medical examination will be conducted, including a drug/alcohol screening and proof of a negative TB test to ensure the ability to perform assigned duties. Any applicant who tests positive or tampers with evidence shall be disqualified from consideration.
Future Vacancies: This recruitment may be used to fill future positions in similar and/or lower classifications within the organization.
Part-time employees are employed "at will" and their services can be discontinued without cause.
Certain City budgets may not include funding for mandated CalPERS employer contributions. A qualified candidate who is a current member of CalPERS may be restricted from temporary/part-time employment.
