The Fresno Area Workforce Investment Corporation (formerly known as the Fresno Workforce Development Board), is a non-profit public benefit corporation. The public purposes of this corporation are to secure more jobs for the unemployed and working poor, attract greater employer participation in all aspects of the local employment and training activities, and insure that the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) is implemented in response to the needs of area employers.

The Fresno Area Workforce Investment Corporation (FAWIC) contracts with community-based organizations, agencies, and local education entities to provide job preparation, vocational training, and job placement services to the unemployed, and eligible adults and youth through a One-Stop delivery system and a Year Round Youth Services program. FAWIC contractors also provide employment services, at no cost, to Fresno County employers.
