The Mission of the City of Cape Canaveral government is to provide excellence in municipal services by supporting a high quality of life, fiscal responsibility and environmental stewardship, while celebrating diversity and fostering innovation.
City of Cape Canaveral Vision Statement
A warm, inclusive beachside community that embraces its small-town feel and enhances the beauty and integrity of its natural environment; promoting resilience, safety, sensible mobility with an emphasis on pedestrian needs, business-friendly development and responsible community stewardship; through a shared commitment to a balanced, respectful and neighborly philosophy that inspires future-ready essential civic services and quality-of-life amenities.
Envision Cape Canaveral 2.0 — Our Community, Our Future
In 2009 the residents of Cape Canaveral engaged in a community-based, citizen-driven process to create a vision for the City’s future. Over 200 citizens participated in six public workshops that resulted in a Vision Statement and a Visioning Report for Cape Canaveral. The Cape Canaveral Vision Statement envisions a vibrant community that meets the economic, recreational, social and retail needs of its citizens. A Visioning Report was also produced that listed recommendations to implement the Visioning. The recommendations include increased code enforcement, revisions to the comprehensive plan and zoning code to allow for mixed-use development and a town center, and a proactive approach to economic development, among others.
Out of this original Visioning Project came the City's core branding elements, to include the trademarked slogan The Space Between® and it's many predicate statements, such as Liftoff + Landing®, Inspiration + Relaxation®, Waves + Wonder® , Family + Friends® , Science + Sandcastles® — just to name a few.
In 2022, the City embarked on a Re-Visioning Project, hosting a series of community workshops and surveys to solicit input from residents, seasonal visitors, businesses, and other stakeholders. It provided insight into the priorities, services, developments and amenities desired for the City's future
