Job Description: IT Enterprise Architect Senior Purpose: With limited supervision, guides City departments requiring business systems or related architectural analysis through the enterprise architecture process. Contributes in the planning of the overall organization Information Technology (IT) Strategy. Develops, maintains, and leverages the department enterprise architecture practice to ensure optimal selection and use of technology to support business objectives.

- Implement enterprise architecture practices and principles.
- Leads and coordinates the pursuit of technical business information needs, governing principles, and solution architecture viewpoints.
- Works with business partners and IT to develop strategic technology roadmaps.
- Develops and oversees architecture implementation including documentation of an enterprise architecture framework.
- Leads enterprise architecture team to identify and analyze business needs for future innovative technology, develops solution architecture requirements, and determines potential

- Ensures governance structure and compliance activities are in place to allow multi-stakeholder participation and agreement in finding solutions.
- Analyzes current business and IT environments and recommends solutions for improvement.
- Leads and facilitates the creation of governing principles to guide solution decision-making.
- Socializes the enterprise architecture practice within the department through collaboration, communication, and training across all business units.
- Develops long term partnerships with department business units and vendors to facilitate collaboration in the development strategic business plans.

Minimum Qualifications: - Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Information/Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field, plus six (6) years of experience in an architecture-related field, including two (2) years in a lead or supervisory capacity
- Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years
Preferred Qualifications:- Demonstrated expertise leading enterprise‑level architecture in one or more domains such as data architecture, cloud strategy, security architecture, or application modernization, with a proven ability to design and govern complex, integrated technology environments.
- Hands‑on experience developing architectural standards, roadmaps, and reference architectures aligned to organizational strategy, with strong ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and departments.

Notes to Candidate:Overview of the Position:The IT Enterprise Architect Sr provides strategic leadership and technical expertise to develop, maintain, and govern the City’s enterprise architecture. This position ensures that technology solutions align with organizational goals, industry standards, and enterprise-wide strategies. It is responsible for assessing current systems, defining future‑state architectures, guiding technology investments, and ensuring that technology platforms are scalable, secure, and cost‑effective. The employee will work closely with business leaders, technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders across departments to translate business needs into enterprise‑level architectural solutions. This position requires a Criminal Background Investigation Financial and CJIS.
Standard Business hours. Must reside in the state of Texas. This position is primarily remote; however, it may require on-site presence as operation needs determine.
Pay Range: $121,600.00 - $164,115.00
Critical Employee:This position has been designated as a Critical Employee. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and support activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified, and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services. (Make sure it is noted that employee will have to return to work site).
Travel:If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
