The Department of Information Technology (DoIT) is excited to announce the recruitment to fill one (1) full-time vacancy for an Information Systems Specialist I.
As an Information Systems Specialist I on DoIT’s Operations team, you will play a key role in supporting the County’s essential mainframe and batch processing functions. This position is responsible for running scheduled and on-demand jobs on the County’s mainframe systems, including managing print jobs, coordinating troubleshooting efforts with programmers when issues arise, and ensuring the timely delivery of printed materials to County departments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, reliability in following operational procedures, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and consistency are critical to service continuity.
The work schedule for this position is currently Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM - 3 PM; however, this is subject to change depending on business needs.
Other departments throughout the County may use the eligible list from this recruitment to fill future vacancies as well.

What you will typically be responsible for:- Monitoring enterprise batch job execution, resolving job failures; monitor system alerts, operational messages, and system resource availability.
- staging and releasing scheduled jobs within the enterprise scheduling system.
- Performing system backups, shutdowns, and restarts for production and test environments.
- Managing secure file transfers with partner organizations and internal departments.
- Supporting payroll processing, ACH transmissions, and financial reporting activities.
- Creating and maintaining job route slips, job scheduling configurations, operational documentation, and shift handoff notes.
- Managing service tickets and respond to operational support requests.
- Coordinating warehouse deliveries and operational inventory tasks.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months.Minimum QualificationsLicense Required: All candidates must possess a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License will be accepted during the application process.
Education: Possession of a high school diploma, GED proficiency or high school equivalency certificate and at least twelve semester or eighteen quarter units in computer science, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Six months of full-time or its equivalent experience performing information systems support and/or software installations.
Substitution: Six months of additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required course work in computer science.
Desirable Qualifications:- Familiarity with mainframe environments, batch processing, or large-scale operational systems.
- Experience with enterprise scheduling tool
Selection ProcessApplication Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
Online Multiple-Choice Test: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participat e in an online Multiple-Choice Assessment. The assessment is designed to measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the classification. These may include but are not limited to: Reading Comprehension, Using Technology, Attention to Detail, Customer Focus, and Teamwork. Candidates must receive a score of at least 70%, which may be an adjusted score, in order to be ranked on the employment list. Tentatively scheduled from May 14 - 20, 2026.
(Weighted 100%) If you apply for another recruitment that uses this exam and the test is scheduled within six (6) months of the date you took the test this time, you will not have the option to re-take the exam. If more than six (6) months have passed, you will need to retake the exam.
The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
