Position Summary: Under general supervision of the Dean for the College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences and in collaboration with the Chair of the Psychology Department, the Department Coordinator is responsible for performing a full range of administrative support functions for the department. Responsibilities include scheduling of Chair's appointments, reconciliation of budget and class schedule entry, coordination of recruitments and travel arrangements for full-time and part-time faculty and staff, and responsibility for the overall effective operations of the department.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide administrative support to the Department Chair
- Provide department-related administrative assistance to the faculty
- Process travel requests and expense claims, faculty absence reports, and requisitions
- Provide training and direction to the student assistant, delegate tasks and provide efficient customer service to students and faculty
- Monitor department budgets and track expenditures
Minimum Qualifications: - A high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience, equivalent to three years.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; clearly organized thought using proper sentence construction
- Knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, methods, and records retainment
- Knowledge of proper customer service-oriented techniques
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently, and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist
- Ability to maintain positive work relationships with co-workers, high-ranking administrators, faculty, students, community leaders and the public
