What you'll do
- Assemble and install traffic signal equipment including signal heads, RRFBs, and pedestrian poles to ensure intersections operate safely and visibly.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical systems on traffic signals, cabinets, pedestrian buttons, and related equipment to minimize outages and improve reliability.
- Assist with preventative maintenance and installations alongside Maintenance Electricians and Senior Electronic Technicians to extend equipment life and reduce emergency repairs.
- Support after-hours and emergency calls when needed to restore traffic operations quickly and safely.
- Work under supervision to troubleshoot issues while building hands-on experience with traffic and pedestrian signal systems.

Qualifications
REQUIRES completion of a trade school or a shop training program; OR 6 months experience in general maintenance and repair work. May be required to obtain a valid MO Class A,B, or C CDL prior to the end of the probationary period as determined by the department. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Must posses a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma.
