Job Description:IT Manager SeniorPurpose:Under general direction, directs and leads the delivery of core services; and enterprise wide or complex Information Technology (IT) service(s) to meet budget, technology, strategic, and business goals.

- Determines the goals and continuity of program service within broad outlines
- Develops strategies, direction and priorities for service delivery

- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service and user services

Minimum Qualifications:- Graduation with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job plus three (3) years of related experience, including two (2) years supervisory experience.
- Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years
- Master’s Degree in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working in IT Infrastructure and Operations, overseeing services, platforms, and operational, as well as the tools, frameworks, and methodologies used to support and improve those services.
- Experience leading technical teams, motivating staff, building team capability, and guiding teams through organizational and technology changes in a fast-paced IT operations environment.

Notes to Candidate:Overview of the Position: This position will provide strategic and operational leadership for key services within the Infrastructure and Operations division, with a focus on endpoint management, field support services, and technology governance and resilience. The IT Manager Senior will develop and implement operational standards, lead staff, manage budgets, improve service delivery, and collaborate with departmental and citywide technology partners to advance organizational goals. The position ensures that IT services are customer-centric, secure, resilient, and aligned with enterprise policies, technology architecture, and strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in device lifecycle management, solid understanding of IT governance, policy development, and compliance frameworks. The candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, the ability to drive modernization and process improvement, and strong customer-service skills suited to both technical and non‑technical audiences. They should also excel in crisis response, prioritization, and cross‑department collaboration to support a resilient and high‑performing IT environment.
These two positions (PCN#108012 and PCN#107081) will require Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and Financial Background Investigation (CBI).
Standard Business hours. Must reside in the state of Texas. This position is primarily remote; however, may require onsite presence as operational needs require. Second round interviews will be conducted in person, and an assessment will be required.
Pay Range: $112,600.00 - $151,935.00
Critical Employee Designation: This position has been designated as Critical Employee position. Critical Employees are considered necessary and vital and support activities that impact City or department operations. This work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees who are able to work at an alternative work location are required to do so. Schedules may be modified and employees may be reassigned to another area during extraordinary situations or emergency conditions to provide essential services.
Travel: If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
