    Two positions with the Water Department - Pipeline Division
    Location: 2409 E. 18th St.
    Pay: $18.37-$28.01 per hour

    Schedule: Workdays and hours vary

    Responsibilities

    About the role
    This position supports Pipeline Division operations by managing storeroom inventory, materials, and customer support activities. The Stock Clerk ensures materials are received, tracked, stored, and distributed accurately to support field operations, emergency response, and daily maintenance work.
    What you'll do
    • Receive and inspect inventory to ensure accuracy and condition upon delivery.
    • Perform daily inventory counts and recounts as needed to maintain accurate records.
    • Conduct spot audits and assist with annual KC Water storeroom audits.
    • Provide correct purchase order numbers for invoices and support ordering of parts, materials, and gravel from vendors.
    • Stock inventory on shelves and pull items needed for internal and external customers.
    • Verify items are added to work orders using handheld scanners for all transactions.
    • Operate a forklift to load and unload materials and pick up materials from vendors as needed.
    • Organize the storeroom, keep the area clean, and ensure materials are properly secured.
    • Print new and replacement storeroom cards for employees.
    • Provide customer support and excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
    • Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours and emergency support.
    • Adhere to all policies and procedures and work efficiently with a team or independently as required.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRES:
    • High school graduation
    • 3 months experience in clerical or storeroom work
    • Must pass a post-offer physical examination as precribed by the City.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
