    Job Description:

    Facility Services Representative Lead

    Purpose:

    Under general supervision, this position is responsible for leading and performing activities of facility service staff who provide information, instruction, and assistance to clients and visitors.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
    • Coordinates and assists clients with move-in and move-out activities.
    • Communicates and works with Event Coordinator regarding status of event, event changes, special client and event needs, etc.
    • Briefs and provides information and instructions to facility services staff to meet client and visitor needs.
    • Answers visitor and client questions and provides assistance.
    • Observes and enforces department and facility safety and operational policies and procedures.
    • Performs security and safety services. Monitors security and fire systems.
    • Coordinates emergency response including evacuation process.
    • Inspects and maintains equipment and vehicles for needed repairs and maintenance.
    • Acts as point of contact in the absence of Event Coordinator.

    Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
    • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, strategic planning, human resources and coordination of people and resources.
    • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
    • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws.
    • Knowledge of City practice, policy and procedures.
    • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
    • Skill in oral and written communication.
    • Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduation with an associate's degree, plus two (2) years of public event or other related experience in a convention center, public assembly/event facility or other related facility/industry.
    • Completion of thirty (30) semester college hours may substitute for one (1) year of the required education with a maximum substitution of two (2) years.
    • Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of two (2) years


    Licenses and Certifications Required:

    • Appropriate level of driver's license as specified for the individual's job.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working in a public/private assembly facility, managing large crowds and individual clientele.
    • Experience working with a dispatch/control center in the security operations field, including security access, video surveillance systems, and fire systems.
    • Experience in Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to Microsoft Word for incident report writing and Microsoft Outlook for email communications.

    • Class C Driver's License

    Salary Range: $22.48 - 25.24

    Location: Palmer Events Center

    Days and Hours:

    1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.The schedule includes a rotating shift. Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays is required for this position.

    Essential Personnel:
    This has been designated as an Essential Employee position. In the event of a city-designated extraordinary situation or emergency condition, essential employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees, as well as ensure the continuity of essential operations. Essential Employees may be called back in during such events, required to modify their schedule, assigned to a City-designated work site, or retained on-site to assist with operations and recovery.

    Driving Requirement:

    This position requires a Type C or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

    City Government

    The City of Austin is a progressive, full-service municipal organization operating under the Council-Manager form of government.
