Responsibilities

What you'll do
- Support the management of the City's compliance efforts with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) permit for the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4).
- Manage and implement specific permit-driven programs by developing or improving program approaches and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate field investigations and inspections; communicate and coordinate with internal staff, outside customers, and other agencies; and track program and project progress.
- Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) skills to support field work and manage data.
- Develop and manage databases, prepare reports and written documents, and perform program evaluation.
- Manage programs including dry weather screening; inspection of stormwater structural best management practices (BMPs); inspection of industrial and commercial sites; investigation of illicit discharges; and monitoring of stormwater runoff and surface water bodies.
- Self-direct field work and receive additional support when deemed necessary by the supervisor.
- Work outside of regular business hours when needed, which may include evenings and weekends.
- Ensure compliance with the City's MS4 Permit, recognizing that non-compliance can lead to adverse regulatory actions.

Qualifications
REQUIRES:- An accredited Bachelor's degree in an environmentally related field such as environmental science, and related physical and life sciences, environmental engineering, and related engineering specializations, environmental law and related legal specializations; environmental studies and related management, environmental planning and related urban planning specializations, environmental education, environmental policy, sustainability, and 2 years of experience as an environmental, natural resources, climate change, or sustainability professional OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience.
- Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies.
- May be required to pass a preemployment drug screen.
- Preference given to candidates with fluency in GIS technologies, and/or fluency in hydrological modeling, and/or fluency in drone application.
