    Water Department - Engineering, Distribution Division
    Location: 4800 E. 63rd St.
    Salary Range: $7,268-$10,902 per month

    Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. * Telework available one day per pay period after the initial probationary period

    Responsibilities

    What you'll do
    • Review and approve completed plans, specifications, drawings, and estimates.
    • Lead and coordinate project teams by reviewing vouchers and supporting field data for partial payments for work completed.
    • Approve payments in accordance with contractual requirements.
    • Prepare specifications for materials and products and perform necessary research for satisfactory substitutes.
    • Investigate material failures.
    • Inspect construction work in progress to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
    • Interpret plans and specifications for inspectors and contractors.
    • Oversee the planning, design, and construction of Capital Improvement Projects, as well as the maintenance of the current infrastructure of the KCMO Water Services Department.
    • Work with the Operations and Maintenance Division, developers, other City departments, and agencies to meet codes, guidelines, and required regulations.
    • Oversee schedules, budgets, and project status reports for Water Distribution Engineering Division projects.
    • Assign and oversee project personnel to specific phases or aspects of projects.
    • Coordinate activities to establish and improve meaningful divisional preventative maintenance work orders.
    • Implement an effective predictive maintenance program for the Department.
    • Directly supervise 8-12 employees.
    • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRES:
    • 4 years of progressively responsible experience as a Registered Engineer
    • Within 6 months of hire date, must be registered as a Professional Engineer with MO Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects.
