Public Works Department - Street Maintenance District 1, District 2 Divisions and Bridge Repair Division Pay Range: $20.10-$30.64 per hour
Work Location: 2400 NE Russell Road (Street Maintenance - District 1) and 5300 Municipal Ave (Street Maintenance - District 2 & Bridge Repair)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

What you'll do
- Operate trucks for road maintenance and street repair, hauling cold patch, hot asphalt, gravel, rock, abrasives, personnel, and materials to keep projects moving safely and on schedule.
- Drive trucks used in street-cleaning, snow plowing, and snow removal operations to maintain safe and accessible roadways in all seasons.
- Operate trucks with flat-bed trailers and lo-boy units, including driving construction equipment on and off transport units to support efficient job-site setup.
- Operate heavy and medium construction equipment such as bulldozers, rollers, front-end loaders, backhoes, excavators, and tractors to repair streets, compact sub-grades, load materials, trench, fill, mow, and clear debris.
- Use specialized equipment including chain saws and spray equipment during tree maintenance and pesticide operations to maintain public spaces and rights-of-way.
- Perform equipment servicing and minor field repairs, assist mechanics with major repairs as needed, lead helpers during loading operations, and perform related duties to keep crews productive.

- Street and road maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards, keeping public roadways reliable for daily use.
- Equipment is operated correctly, serviced regularly, and maintained to reduce downtime and extend service life.
- Work near underground utilities is planned carefully, preventing damage to pipes, cables, and surrounding infrastructure.
- You are dependable, follow safety procedures, and effectively lead helpers during loading and job-site operations.
- Seasonal and emergency work, including snow removal, is handled promptly to keep streets safe for residents and emergency services.

REQUIRES
- 6 months of experience in the operation of trucks and other specialized automotive equipment.
- Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies.
- May be required to possess a valid Missouri Class A, B or C CDL prior to the end of probationary period.
