Responsibilities

What you'll do
- Apply professional engineering knowledge to the design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of public works, transportation, water, sewer, air quality, energy, and pollution control systems to ensure safe and compliant infrastructure.
- Prepare, review, and check plans, specifications, cost estimates, profiles, and calculations for streets, trafficways, utilities, treatment systems, airport runways, and mechanical systems to support accurate project delivery.
- Perform inspections of buildings, operating systems, and construction projects, verifying conformance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes while documenting progress and materials used.
- Conduct engineering studies, including traffic analysis, energy conservation programs, emissions evaluation, and operational efficiency studies, to improve performance and reduce environmental impact.
- Review and issue construction and operating permits, prepare regulatory documents, conduct compliance inspections, and submit required reports to state and federal agencies to ensure regulatory adherence.
- Supervise engineering staff or sections as assigned, provide technical guidance, participate in interviews and procurement activities, and support departmental standards and quality control.

REQUIRES
- ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in any professionally recognized architectural/engineering discipline as required by the hiring authority.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City.
