    One full-time position and several seasonal positions with the Public Works Department-Street Maintenance District I, II, and III Divisions
    Pay Range: $19.27-$29.39 per hour
    Work Location: District I: 2400 NE Russell Road, District II: 5300 Municipal Ave, District III: 4725 Coal Mine Road
    Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

    Responsibilities

    What you'll do
    • Operate chain saws and hand saws to cut and remove tree branches and limbs, helping keep streets, sidewalks, and public spaces safe and accessible.
    • Flag traffic, operate weed eaters, and remove trash and debris to maintain safe work zones for crews and the public.
    • Participate in the construction and maintenance of streets, bridges, and culverts to support reliable city infrastructure.
    • Prepare potholes and surface depressions for repair by shoveling, raking, rolling, and tamping hot or cold asphalt to improve roadway conditions and extend pavement life.
    • Operate light to moderately heavy automotive and related equipment as needed to complete installation and repair work efficiently.
    • Perform semi-skilled manual labor and assist with snow removal activities to support year-round street maintenance and emergency response.

    • Assigned maintenance and repair work is completed safely, correctly, and on time.
    • Streets, work sites, and public areas are left clean, safe, and ready for public use.
    • Traffic control and safety practices are followed consistently to protect coworkers and the public.
    • Equipment and tools are used properly and cared for to reduce downtime and damage.
    • You are dependable, work well with the crew, and respond effectively during weather-related or emergency operations.

    REQUIRES
    • High school graduation OR 6 months of experience in general labor.
    • May be required to possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies.
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
