    Job Summary

    Salary:

    $16 per hour

    Part-time schedule of 20 hours per week, Tuesday-Friday, with additional hours for some evening hours required for programs and special event coverage, visitor services at the front desk, including welcoming guests, handling admission, tracking demographic data, and communicating about the museum and its programs.

    Primary Functions: This role will support all aspects of the visitor services operation, including guest admission and information, providing program assistance throughout the museum, and assisting with special events such as setup and breakdown.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    A bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience in visitor or guest service or education (preferably in a museum setting) required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    The incumbent must be friendly and accessible, possess excellent customer service skills, work well with a diverse group of colleagues, be flexible in responding to the changing needs of each day, and handle a fast-paced environment while providing a quality visitor education experience.Computer skills are essential. Must be able to learn quickly and adapt to the ticketing and customer relationship software. Parts of the position require some physical labor, such as moving brochure boxes, chairs, tables, etc., and conducting visitor operations outdoors.

The employee is regularly required to communicate professionally in English, both in person and over the telephone, and through email and other electronic means; to move about the work area, between buildings, and across the exterior museum grounds; to handle various types of media and equipment; and to visually or otherwise identify, observe, and assess. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.

    THIS IS A PART_TIME_POSITION WITH NO GUARANTEE OF A CERTAIN NUMBER OF HOURS AND NO BENEFITS. THIS POSITION INVOLVES WORKING ON A TEMP/SEASONAL CONTRACT WHICH CAN BE RENEWED ANNUALLY BASED ON PERFORMANCE AND BUSINESS NEEED.

    If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
    • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
