The Administrative Analyst I is the preparative class of the series. Initially, under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform duties of increasing complexity in the realm of data mining and data analysis to provide support with operations, programming, fiscal, budgetary, and policy issues.
Duties and responsibilities of a Probation Department administrative analyst include:
- Writing and running SQL and other data queries in our case management system
- Data visualization to provide context to criminal justice data
- Researching and analyzing legislative issues and preparing impact reports
- Researching best practices, criminological theories, and justice system trends
- Preparing comprehensive written reports and presenting findings to department and stakeholders
An administrative analyst is an integral part of the Probation Department's Research and Development Unit, whose mission is to assist the department and the local justice system to be data driven, evidence based, and impactful in pursuing our mission.

Education and Experience RequiredBachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, economics or a related field from an accredited college or university
and One year of experience in administrative, budget or personnel analysis, preferably in a public agency.
- Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.
