JOB SUMMARYThe
Activity Center Attendant serves as the frontline ambassador of the City’s Activity Center, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience for all patrons. It supports the organization’s mission by delivering high-quality customer service, managing program registrations and equipment rentals, and maintaining safe, clean, and well-run facilities. By monitoring activities and providing responsive assistance, this position helps drive community engagement and the overall success of the Center’s operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Staff the front desk and provide customer service to Activity Center patrons by responding to inquiries in person and over the phone, providing information about facilities and athletic programs, directing users to correct areas, assisting with program registrations and equipment or locker rentals, and collecting and processing registration fees
- Participate in cleaning and maintaining Activity Center facilities by performing routine janitorial work, wiping down fitness and weight equipment, identifying and reporting maintenance issues to the supervisor, and assisting with setup and takedown of tables and chairs
- Participate in training new employees as required and assist with special projects as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- One (1) year of recreation center and/or customer service experience.

- Skill in effective verbal and written communication
- Skill in providing excellent customer service and maintaining positive working relationships with City staff, vendors, facility renters, patrons, and the general public
- Ability to work under general supervision and exercise sound judgment
- Ability to read, comprehend, and apply departmental policies and program documentation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires the ability to lift up to 45 pounds occasionally. Subject to vision and hearing constantly; standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, bending, balancing and talking occasionally; kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting and climbing rarely.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Working conditions involve exposure to hazardous chemicals, infectious diseases, and potentially irate members of the public.
