    About the Job Fire Watch

    As a Fire Watch at Talent Source, you will play a critical role in ensuring fire safety and prevention during hot work operations in shipyard environments. Below are the key responsibilities and requirements for this position:

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct fire watch duties during hot work operations, such as welding, cutting, and grinding, to prevent fires and ensure the safety of personnel and property.
    • Monitor the work area for fire hazards, including sparks, flames, and hot surfaces, and immediately report any signs of fire or smoke to appropriate personnel.
    • Maintain constant vigilance and remain alert for potential fire risks throughout the duration of hot work activities.
    • Keep firefighting equipment, such as fire extinguishers and hoses, readily accessible and in good working condition.
    • Assist in setting up fire prevention measures, such as fire blankets, screens, and barriers, to contain sparks and prevent fire spread.
    • Communicate effectively with hot work operators and other personnel to ensure compliance with fire safety procedures and regulations.
    • Respond quickly and decisively in the event of a fire emergency, following established protocols and evacuation procedures.
    • Provide assistance to firefighting personnel as needed during fire suppression activities.
    • Document hot work operations and fire watch activities, including any incidents or observations, in written reports.
    • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to promote a safe working environment.

    Requirements:

    • Previous experience as a fire watch or in a related role preferred.
    • Knowledge of fire safety procedures and firefighting equipment.
    • Ability to remain focused and alert during extended periods of monitoring.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize potential fire hazards.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
    • Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform duties in various weather conditions.
    • Basic understanding of shipyard operations and hazards preferred but not required.
    • Fire safety certification or training preferred but not required.
