About the role
This role supports Quality Assurance functions within the KC Water Services Laboratory. It is professional environmental work performed in an office and laboratory setting and focuses on regulatory compliance, quality system implementation, environmental program support, and audit readiness. Reports to the Quality Assurance Manager, helping translate quality requirements into daily practices across laboratory areas.
What you'll do
- Assist with implementation and upkeep of controlled documents, records, and training, and help ensure daily QA requirements function consistently across laboratory areas.
- Perform compliance checks, internal verification reviews, SOP verification reviews, and assist with internal and external audits, including CAPAs and root cause analyses.
- Monitor compliance with the Quality Assurance Manual (QAM) and applicable The NELAC Institute (TNI) requirements, and help ensure the laboratory remains audit-ready.
- Review assigned data and records for completeness and quality, provide routine status reporting, and serve as a resource for QA questions.
- Identify trends in nonconformances (repeat issues, lab-wide gaps, recurring QC problems) and escalates risk and pattern issues to the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Develop or assist with QA focused training sessions and reference materials as needed, and track assigned QA training requirements.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and projects, serve as backup for testing in General Chemistry and Microbiology when needed, and perform related duties as required.

Qualifications
REQUIRES:- An accredited bachelor's degree in an environmentally related field such as environmental science, and related physical and life sciences, environmental engineering, and related engineering specializations, environmental law and related legal specializations; environmental studies and related management, environmental planning and related urban planning specializations, environmental education, environmental policy, sustainability, and 2 years of experience as an environmental, natural resources, climate change, or sustainability professional
- OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience.
- Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies.
- May be required to pass a preemployment drug screen.
