    Water Department - Pipeline Division
    Salary Range: $22.61-$34.48 per hour
    Work Location: 2409 E 18th St.
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

    What you'll do
    • Assign, lead, and participate in the work of an assigned crew to ensure repair and maintenance tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule
    • Determine needs and requisition tools, materials, and equipment to support timely and effective job completion
    • Direct safety activities among employees and the assigned crew and conduct safety training programs and crew meetings to maintain a safe work environment
    • Receive requests for emergency and unscheduled work and arrange for prompt performance to minimize disruption and risk
    • Instruct employees in new methods of work and procedural changes to improve efficiency and compliance
    • Maintain necessary reports, including time sheets, activity reports, and accident, injury, and equipment condition reports; help resolve employee and public complaints related to the area of assignment

    • Crew operates safely with strong adherence to safety standards and reduced incidents

    Qualifications

    REQUIRES:
    • 3 years experience of a progressively responsible nature in construction or maintenance work, including 1 year at the level of the City's Maintenance Worker.
    • Must possess a valid MO Class A, B, Or C CDL prior to the end of probationary period as determined by the department.
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
    • Preferences will be given to candidates with High school diploma or high school equivalency

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
