This position involves skilled work in emergency response to protect life and property, including fire extinguishment, public safety, and emergency management. The role also includes semi-skilled workin maintaining equipment and quarters. The job requires considerable physical exertion and adherence to the rules and regulations of the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD).
Candidates will undergo a written multiple-choice test, a physical agility test, a criminal background investigation, and a medical test including a chest x-ray, lumbar spine x-ray, and psychological/psychiatric evaluation. A stress EKG may also be administered.
