The JobSan Bernardino County Library is recruiting for a
Library Delivery Driver to support the transportation and distribution of library materials, supplies, equipment, and program resources throughout the County library system. This position plays an essential role in ensuring branch libraries receive timely deliveries and operational support necessary to provide quality public library services.
Incumbents primarily operate County vehicles along assigned routes and schedules while also assisting with warehouse operations, inventory handling, and materials distribution. Responsibilities include loading and unloading materials, maintaining delivery and vehicle records, conducting vehicle inspections, and supporting safe and efficient warehouse operations. Positions in this classification work independently, maintain regular communication with supervisors and branch staff, and represent the Library with professionalism and excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Transport library materials, supplies, equipment, and program resources between warehouse facilities and designated branch libraries according to assigned routes and schedules.
- Load, unload, organize, secure, and distribute books, craft supplies, event materials, and other library resources to prevent damage during transport.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs, damages, safety concerns, or operational issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage records, inventory documentation, and incident reports.
- Assist with warehouse operations including sorting, staging, shelving, inventory management, order fulfillment, and general organization of materials and supplies.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance needs and communicate operational concerns with supervisory staff.
- Ensure the proper handling, security, and confidentiality of library materials, facility access keys, and alarm code information.
- Operate County vehicles safely and in compliance with all traffic laws, County policies, and established safety procedures.
- Utilize County-issued communication devices to maintain communication regarding schedules, delays, emergencies, or delivery concerns.
- Report route delays, accidents, damaged materials, vehicle issues, or branch facility concerns to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Assist with surplus pickups, emergency response support activities, and special deliveries as assigned.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service when interacting with library staff, County employees, vendors, and members of the public.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional warehouse and work environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, workshops, and professional development activities as required.
- Work independently while effectively managing time, prioritizing assignments, and meeting established delivery schedules.
- Perform related duties as assigned in support of Library operations.

Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Working Conditions: This position requires frequent moving, lifting, and carrying of items up to 50lbs and occasionally up to 70lbs, either manually or with the aid of lifting devices, i.e. dollies and/or large carts.

Minimum Requirements License: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license.
-AND- Experience: Six (6) months of full-time equivalent experience performing delivery driving duties involving the pickup and/or delivery of materials to multiple daily locations, including following delivery schedules and determining efficient delivery routes. Qualifying experience must include driving as part of regular job duties.
Note: Public transportation and app-based food delivery services are not considered qualifying experience.
