DescriptionThe Lead Dispatcher is responsible for providing leadership to dispatchers and dispatch communications and other support services to drivers to meet the freight transportation demands for day-to-day operations. This position is responsible for KPI's related to On Time Performance, Capacity Management, Equipment Management and Order Management. The Lead Dispatcher's primary responsibility is ensuring the dispatch team functions are completed daily to meet service expectations and system management of orders. In addition to providing support in day-to-day leadership and escalation support, the Lead Dispatcher is responsible for ensuring settlements are processed on time each week for closing.Essential Job DutiesEnsure proper distribution of workloads and schedulingBuild and maintain strong working relationships with agents and independent contractors to support business operations and service continuity; provide escalation support to junior team membersMonitor service performance and help resolve operational issues such as missed pickups, late deliveries, service failures, billing discrepancies, and customer escalations. Escalate to Trucking Manager as neededSupport day-to-day drayage and intermodal operations involving ocean ports, rail hubs, and related freight movementsEnsure Load Boards are completed daily, and orders have been prepared for accountingManage day-to-day capacity and equipment needs and workload with dispatchers to ensure a solid load planEnsure weekly settlements have been prepared on time and required PODs scannedSupport recruiting, onboarding, and retention of independent contractorsCoordinate communications between customers, brokers for rates, and contractsSupport compliance with DOT, FMCSA, safety, and company requirements applicable to trucking operations and independent contractor networksSupport with admin issues in processing billing and/or settlement correctionsAssist with development, documentation, and improvement of standard operating procedures and workflows related to trucking capacity servicesManage day-to-day staffing needs and hoursParticipate in the interview process and provide hiring recommendations for new employeesFoster employee growth and developmentOnboard, train, and mentor newly hired employees with a hands‑on approachPerform other related duties as assignedRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED3+ years of experience dispatching class A trucksTransportation/logistics industry experienceLeadership experienceBasic computer skillsProficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and ExcelDemonstrated problem‑solving and critical thinking skillsHigh degree of accuracy and excellent attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to collaborate well with othersExcellent organizational and time‑management skillsAbility to remain patient and calm under pressureAbility to tailor communication to different audiencesScheduleMonday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (In Person, Hybrid)Location Address4500 Salisbury Rd, Suite 190, Jacksonville FL, 32216BenefitsIndividual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA): Evans provides a monthly employer‑funded allowance for employees to purchase the individual health insurance plan of their choice through our ICHRA partner, Take Command.
