Dispatch Operating Assistant
Our client is a well-established coach driver company providing transportation services across the region. The company prides itself on safe, reliable, and professional coach services to its clients. With over 40 years of experience, they are a leading bus company in New York with far-reaching services with a strong focus on lost and found retrievals saving clients and patrons thousands each year.
Our client is seeking a Dispatch Operating Assistant (DOA) to support their dispatch department. The DOA will assist with coach tracking, ensure smooth evening operations, and complete other ad hoc tasks to meet the needs of the business. Qualified candidates will have strong observational skills, independently take initiative, and practice good judgement and reliability.
Location: Spring Valley, NY Reports to: Dispatcher Schedule: Onsite
- Sunday-Thursday 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM and Saturday 10:00pm-1:00am (Winter hours vary)
Employment Type: Full-Time Hourly Rate: $28.00 - $30.00 USD/Hour Benefits: 401(k)
Key Responsibilities
- Support the evening dispatch team in managing incoming driver communications and trip updates.
- Track and document lost items reported by passengers or drivers.
- Maintain an organized and secure lost and found system.
- Perform dispatch-related tasks assigned between 4PM 12 AM.
- Monitor coach movements and ensure dispatch is aware of any irregularities.
- From 8:00 PM onward, operate independently, maintaining vigilance over late driver check-ins and vehicle status.
- Remain visible, present, and ready to assist during all work hours.
Qualifications
- Fluent in English.
- Willing to work evening hours consistently with a high sense of competency.
- CDLA licensure preferred.
- Familiarity with transportation, dispatch, and/or coaching services.
- Strong attention to detail and follow procedures.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative with good judgement as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with a strong problem-solving mindset.
- A background in operations, logistics, or customer service is a plus.
Compensation The published salary range is used as a guide to provide prospective candidates with a level of compensation that is competitive with today's market. The salary range for this position is a good faith estimate that allows for flexibility to align with various levels of experience, education, and performance.
