Overview Command and Data Handling/Networking Subsystem Engineers – Space Autonomy Systems – (Associate, Experienced, or Lead) – Company: The Boeing Company. Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Space Mission Systems is seeking Command and Data Handling/Networking Subsystem Engineers (Level 2, 3, or 4) to develop and manage C&DHN Subsystems for Boeing secured autonomous satellite network systems in El Segundo, CA.Substitution of C&DHN Subsystem engineering assignments include requirements definition and flow down, systems design and analysis, systems integration, test, and verification. You will resolve technical issues and ensure hardware and software are flight‑worthy prior to delivery. Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams is crucial. You will work with management and experts across multiple disciplines including GNC subsystem engineering, software engineering, Communications Security (COMSEC) design, Transmission Security (TRANSEC) design, electronic hardware design & test, spacecraft integration, and end‑to‑end system engineering. Foundational knowledge of networking principles including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network protocols relevant to aerospace systems. Some familiarity with system modeling and simulation tools, including Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., SysML, Cameo) will be a plus.Responsibilities Gather, define, and document system level requirements to support flight control and mission or trajectory requirements definitionProvide technical, cost, and schedule status to program and functionParticipate and support with cost and schedule reduction initiativesDevelop and maintain comprehensive subsystem specifications and unit specs with REA supportWork on subsystem‑to‑subsystem interface requirements and C&DHN subsystem hardwareSubcontract/Contract Data Requirements List (SDRLs/CDRLs)Create and release subsystem level analyses such as traffic analysis, TM accuracy, sampling, command pacingPerform Subsystem Architecture (including Block Diagram) and technology insertion (including COMSEC Roadmap)Assure COMSEC implementation and CNSSP-12 compliance including cybersecurity and information assurancePrepare and present C&DHN subsystem design reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.) for customer and Program SEIT interfaceInput to Spacecraft Database, FSW, and Flight ROPsDefine and maintain satellite C&DHN process writings (DMS guides)Basic Qualifications Active U.S. Secret Security ClearanceBachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non‑US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statementFoundational knowledge of networking principles including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network protocols relevant to aerospace systemsWilling to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationallyPreferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or higher in Software, Electrical, or Aerospace EngineeringExperience developing solutions to complex technical problemsExperience working with CCSDS and IP (Internet Protocol)Experience working with MIL‑STD‑1553, SpaceWire, CAN, LVDS or EthernetExperience in MATLAB, Python, and VBAStrong understanding of network engineering concepts including network architecture design, network security, and network troubleshootingExperience with network simulation and analysis toolsFamiliarity with satellite communication network and protocolsKnowledge of cybersecurity best practices for networked embedded systemsBasic understanding of Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools to support system design, analysis, and verification is a plusEducation & Experience Levels Associate, Level 2: Typically 2 or more years related work experience or equivalent.
