Project Safety Assistant, TX
Safety Worxs is seeking an experienced Project Safety Assistant (PSA) to support a large-scale building construction project. This role is responsible for leading all on-site safety efforts, driving proactive risk management, and ensuring full compliance withOSHA construction standards and project-specific safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Support implementation and enforcement of the Project Safety Management Plan (PSMP)
- Conduct daily field inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits
- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Support project safety orientations, toolbox talks, and weekly safety meetings
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), permits, and subcontractor safety documentation
- Monitor high-risk activities including excavation, confined space entry, crane operations, electrical work, and fall protection
- Maintain project safety documentation, records, and reporting requirements
- Work closely with project leadership, subcontractors, and owner representatives to reinforce site safety expectations
- Assist with enforcement of project safety requirements and corrective actions in the field
- Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or behaviors are identified
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 consecutive years dedicated solely to building construction safety experience required
- Candidates with a 4-year degree in a construction safety discipline must possess at least 1 year of actual field experience in building construction safety
- CSP, CHST, or other nationally recognized safety certifications may be considered toward experience requirements
- OSHA 510, OSHA 500, or OSHA 502 certification required and must be current within 5 years
- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required
Candidates must demonstrate practical knowledge, field experience, and documented continuing education in:
- Fall protection
- Scaffolds (supported and suspended)
- Excavation and trenching
- Confined space (permit and non-permit)
- Crane operations and basic rigging
- Electrical safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Incident investigation
- Industrial hygiene for construction
- Fire protection and prevention
- Respiratory protection
