Job Description
This is progressively responsible work reserving, scheduling, organizing, assisting and/or conducting the activities of Dispatching and Scheduling SCAT Bus Routes for Paratransit and Fixed Routes.
Receives and logs calls for transportation services; assigns specific equipment and driver to trip/route; prepares daily run logs and schedules changes; revises and reschedules trips and assignments; coordinates cancellations through dispatch; monitors shuttle sheets/vehicles; reassigns routes as required.
Clocks and checks in all Bus Operators; accepts absentee reports from Bus Operators; prepares and processes absentee reports; assists Bus Operators with timecards.
Estimates mileage and times related to runs; maintains constant radio and telephone contact with drivers and/or purchased transportation vendors/drivers; collects and processes daily inspection sheets.
Posts driver/equipment/route assignments; coordinates road closures and construction.
Issues schedules for approvals and publication.
Directs road supervisors to incidents, emergencies; processes incident reports as they occur.
Routes complaints to supervisors for investigation; attempts resolution of complaints and refers as necessary.
Issues corrective fare box notifications, issues paratransit pick up/delivery information.
Answers customer information requests.
Hours: SCAT operational hours are Monday-Saturday, 4:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m., Sunday 6:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m.
As part of the scheduling team, you will bid for your monthly schedule. A typical week could be:
2 days of opening at 4:30 a.m.
1 day of 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
2 days of 12 p.m.-8 p.m.
2 days off
Work schedules may vary due to rotations, on-call, emergencies, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or its equivalent
Two (2) years of experience with customer contact
Preferred Qualifications
Computer and radio dispatch experience preferred. Computer experience including Outlook, Word, Excel and Intelligent Transportation Systems such as MVR, AVL, etc. a plus.
Job Competencies
Customer relation skills, data entry and spreadsheet skills and ability to communicate over a two-way radio.
