Workday HCM Solution Architect (Lead)
Location: Hybrid (McLean, VA area)
Work Model: Hybrid Overview
A consulting-focused organization supporting complex enterprise environments is seeking a Lead Workday HCM Solution Architect to drive delivery of human capital management initiatives. This role blends solution architecture, functional expertise, and leadership, with a focus on designing scalable Workday solutions and optimizing HR processes across the organization. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of Workday HCM and Compensation solutions across multiple functional areas
Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, identify pain points, and recommend process improvements
Translate business needs into effective Workday configurations and architectural solutions
Oversee implementation of enhancements, new capabilities, and system optimizations
Ensure alignment across HCM workstreams and evaluate cross-functional system impacts
Manage and mentor a team of analysts, providing technical and functional guidance
Drive project execution using structured project management methodologies
Deliver presentations, reporting, and strategic recommendations to leadership stakeholders Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree
5+ years of experience with Human Capital Management systems
3+ years of hands-on experience with Workday HCM, including core HCM and compensation modules
3+ years of experience leading projects or functional initiatives
2+ years of experience managing or mentoring team members
Strong understanding of HR processes and system workflows Preferred Qualifications Experience across additional Workday modules such as Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, Talent, or Security
Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced or ambiguous environments
Strong consultative and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills, with experience working with both technical and business stakeholders
Strong organizational and client-facing capabilities
