Purpose Of Position

- Works independently or as partof a team in sign installation, maintenance, repair, and removal activities.
- Ensures the safe and proper operation of trade tools and power equipment and vehicles; adheres to prescribed safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Inspects completed work for plumb and level, adherence to work orders, and safety.
- Retrieves daily work orders, determines number of installations and loads assigned vehicle with signs and other equipment and materials necessary to complete assignments.
- Participate in worksite safety set-up, e.g., setting up barricades and cones, performing traffic control in accordance with uniform work zone safety standards.
- Design, prepare and fabricate traffic and custom signs.
- Installation of traffic signpost using surface mounts and in ground concrete bases.
- Participate in the restoration of areas affected by installation operations, e.g., clean up installation sites from extra dirt, concrete or fill in holes as needed.
- Perform cleaning and visual obstruction removal for traffic signs.
- Keep company provided vehicles organized and cleaned.
- Positively contribute to the culture of the Traffic Department and overall organization.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Work Zone Safety certification preferred.
- Ability to use basic hand tools.
- Able to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of paint striping machines and equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge of traffic laws for signs and markings preferred.
- Skill and ability to inspect work performed for quality.
- Skill and ability to read drawings for instructions preferred.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand up to 6-hours daily; walk up to 5-hours daily; sit 2-hours daily; lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100-lbs.; climb, balance, stoop, bend, crouch, and crawl; and reach.
- Ability to manage own time effectively.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
