Field Dispatcher
Location: McCook, IL (Onsite)
Pay: $25-27/hour
Assignment Type: Contract with potential for permanent hire
Schedule:
Training (first 46 weeks): MondayFriday, 9:00 AM 6:00 PM
Regular schedule: MondayFriday, 1:00 PM 10:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules by communicating with clients via phone and email
- Plan and adjust delivery routes to ensure shipments arrive on time and at the correct destination
- Assign drivers to routes and monitor daily transportation activities
- Enter and manage dispatch orders within the Transportation Management System (TMS), ensuring accuracy and completion status
- Maintain detailed records of dispatch activities, including routes, timing, and special handling requirements
- Monitor ongoing deliveries and proactively communicate any delays or updates to customers
- Review and confirm the accuracy of shipment invoices, including additional charges such as tolls or fees
- Coordinate transmissions of pickup requests to partner carriers
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in dispatching, logistics, or transportation coordination
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with professional phone etiquette
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency with dispatch or transportation systems (TMS experience preferred)
