Job Description: Under the direction of the Technology Manager, serves as the senior project leader responsible for the planning and delivery of enterprise, mission-critical, and Citywide technology initiatives. This position supervises project management staff (as assigned), oversees major technology programs, and plays a central role in implementing Project Management Office (PMO) standards, coordinating enterprise programs, and supporting executive reporting. The Principal IT Projects Manager leads large-scale initiatives involving multiple departments, vendors, and technical domains and advises management on project prioritization, sequencing, and strategy to ensure measurable operational benefit and successful adoption.

Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following functions are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all listed functions and/or may be required to perform additional or different functions from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Education:
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Public Administration or a closely related field is required.
Experience:
One (1) year of experience working in the City of Glendale IT Department performing comparable project support or coordination duties plus three (3) additional years of progressively responsible experience managing information technology projects, including complex or enterprise implementations, with formal lead or supervisory responsibility over project teams and coordination of multiple concurrent technology initiatives;
OR
Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience managing information technology projects.
Experience must include primary responsibility for project planning, scheduling, vendor coordination, and stakeholder management.
Certifications/Licenses
One or more of the following certification(s) is highly desirable:
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Certification
Agile/Scrum Certification
Transportation:
A valid California Class C driver’s license is required.

Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed indoors in an office setting.
Work is primarily performed Monday to Friday during regular office hours.
Evening work may be required.
Weekend or holiday work may be required.
Emergency response may be required 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, including nights, weekends and holidays.
