POSITION SUMMARY:
Instructs students at the middle and high school level in the Air Force JROTC Program. Utilizes current strategies and theories provided by the Air Force to plan and implement instructional lessons. This position has a dual reporting process i.e. the Principal and Air Force.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructs students, using various teaching methods, such as lecture, audiovisual aids, demonstration and other materials to supplement presentations relative to specific content field.
Assigns lessons and corrects homework; administers tests to evaluate students' progress, record results and issue reports to inform parents of progress. Maintains discipline in classroom. Supervises behavior outside the classroom (i.e., halls, bus, lunch/cafeteria, rest room duty).
Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or Air Force, state and local requirements.
Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review students' progress, performance, and behavior problems. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree required.
Must hold official military retirement orders reflecting honorable discharge. Must be recommended by a military branch.
Certification by the State of Georgia - Georgia Basic Skills Assessments - as applicable; Air Forces JROTC Permit Required.
Makes recommendations or decisions which usually affect the entire department/school.
Requires regular, frequent communication with internal school administrative personnel.
Requires regular, frequent communication with different constituencies: external agencies, parents, community etc.
Excellent classroom management required. May be designated as a lead teacher or trainer.
Normal classroom/school setting.
Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one-half (7½) hours per day.
Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying; twenty (20) lbs. or less.
