Salary determined in accordance with current pay procedures.DESCRIPTIONThe incumbent supervises, surveils, and maintains a specialized caseload of youthful offenders, drug offender probation, community controlees, pre‑trial intervention offenders, offender releases, and other classifications as needed. The position may include duties as intake officer, court liaison officer, trainer, electronic monitoring device installer, and may direct and supervise a correctional probation officer at a probation and restitution center.RESPONSIBILITIESEncourage and foster offender compliance through guidance, goal setting, monitoring, and community supervision.Conduct field and office supervision visits via personal contact, contacts with collateral/community, surveillance, telephone, and electronic methods.Demonstrate sensitivity to public and victim needs, take appropriate action.Assess offender needs, treatment options, and supervision objectives; refer offenders; establish structured treatment programs and ensure adherence.Utilize information management system to develop payment plans and enforce compliance.Maintain case records (electronic and hard copy); document offender background, legal history, treatment progress.Conduct pre‑sentence, pre‑trial, post‑sentence, interstate compact, and other required investigations; make recommendations to sentencing/releasing authorities.Represent the department at hearings or as a witness in proceedings; report non‑compliance; prepare violation reports.Maintain liaison with judiciary, prosecutors, public defenders, law enforcement, treatment providers, and other justice partners; develop partnerships with local law enforcement.Conduct individual and group counseling; interview offenders; test for controlled substances and alcohol.Develop and maintain contacts with resources for public service assignments.Conduct searches and arrests of offenders under supervision; install and maintain electronic/radio equipment and interpret data.Handle administrative duties and assist supervisors; serve on teams, committees, and task forces; attend and deliver training; act as day‑to‑day training officer.ESSENTIAL / ENTRY‑LEVEL KSASAbility to work independently and under stressful conditions.Ability to communicate effectively.FULL PERFORMANCE LEVEL KSASKnowledge of techniques for advising, interviewing, and counseling.Ability to review and analyze data.Ability to assist offenders in solving problems.Ability to conduct investigations.Ability to apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTSCertification in accordance with Florida Statutes 943.13.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Valid driver's license required (33‑208.402, Florida Administrative Code and Section 322.03(3) Florida Statutes).VETERANS' PREFERENCEPursuant to Chapter 295, Florida Statutes, eligible veterans receive preference in employment for Career Service vacancies and are encouraged to apply.
