Traffic Control Technician

This position is skilled work in the fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of traffic control devices to include traffic signs, pavement markings, delineators, barricades, cones, raised pavement markers and any other device related to Traffic Operations. It also includes programming and deployment of message boards, arrow boards, etc.

Job Description:

Sign Installation:

Perform locates where traffic signs and other apparatus is to be installed

Fabricate and install signs and posts

Fabricate and install delineators, barricades, cones and raised pavement markers

Load and deploy cones and barricades as directed

Program and deploy message boards and arrow boards as directed

Clean and maintain existing signs and other traffic control devices

Perform other traffic operations related functions as directed

Maintain Equipment:

Clean and service equipment and work area used in installation and repairs of traffic signs

Perform other duties and directed by management and supervisors

Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or its equivalent and one-year of experience in the installation and repair of traffic control devices. Must have successfully completed the International Municipal Sign Association (IMSA) sign and road markings course Level I within one-year of employment and MOT intermediate training course within six (6) months from date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class "B", but not required.

Job Competencies:

Knowledge of federal, state and local standards for traffic control devices (MUTCD)

Knowledge of and ability to use tools and equipment used in the installation and repair of traffic control devices

Knowledge of safety regulations as they apply to the installation and repair of traffic control devices

Ability to work under adverse weather conditions

Physical Demands: Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

About Everything Else

Pay: $15.35 (Step 1)
