GovCIO is currently hiring for a SME Cloud Engineer with extensive experience in both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to design and manage our multi-cloud architecture supporting the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). This role provides high-level engineering, technical execution, and automation management to integrate complex enterprise systems, manage cloud infrastructure, and ensure mission-critical USCG cloud environments achieve and retain operational authorization. This position will be located in Alexandria, VA, and will be a hybrid position.
Responsibilities: As a SME Cloud Engineer, the ideal candidate will specialize in the integration and automation of enterprise management tools, with a strong focus on connecting Microsoft Sentinel, Swimlane, ACAS, and Tanium to create a cohesive and automated infrastructure posture across our hybrid environment. Core responsibilities include:
- Manage multi-cloud engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring the successful planning and execution of enterprise architecture controls for USCG networks.
- Develop automated workflows and playbooks within Swimlane to streamline operational responses and accelerate system mitigation.
- Enhance system monitoring across platforms with advanced data configurations, operational rules, and log tuning within Microsoft Sentinel.
- Ensure real-time endpoint visibility, control, and continuous policy enforcement utilizing enterprise Tanium deployments.
- Provide deep, hands-on engineering support in the selection, tailoring, and automation of native cloud architecture controls across Azure and AWS environments.
- Direct the selection and application of automated configuration monitoring and technical baseline checklists.
- Actively monitor ACAS system scans and collaborate closely with technical infrastructure teams to engineer automated solutions for identified system discrepancies.
- Lead efforts in conducting cloud system risk assessments and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) management across USCG platforms.
- Lead the drafting and maintenance of comprehensive architecture documentation, systems engineering patterns, and federal compliance frameworks (such as ATO documentation).
- Coordinate multi-cloud integration testing activities and finalize associated compliance and deployment documentation.
- Manage the completion and routing of technical change management paperwork for infrastructure-as-code and systems policy updates.
- Coordinate and execute tool onboarding processes for new cloud applications, workloads, and resources.
- Engage and coordinate with required USCG cloud infrastructure teams, operational commands, and systems departments.
- Respond accurately and promptly to operational readiness data calls and technical data requests.
