Vantor is seeking a motivated engineer to support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of automated monitoring, metrics data collection, and real time dashboards within a mission-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working in Linux-based systems, scripting with Bash, and building operational dashboards using the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana). This role is well-suited for a junior to mid-level engineer looking to expand their automation and observability expertise while supporting critical national security missions.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automation solutions in Linux environments.
- Create and enhance Bash scripts to automate system administration, application log gathering, metrics displays.
- Develop and maintain job orchestration tools for data flows
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards and visualizations using Kibana.
- Support Elasticsearch data ingestion, indexing, and search optimization activities.
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with system administrators, developers, and mission stakeholders to gather requirements and implement solutions.
- Assist with log analysis, troubleshooting, and operational reporting.
- Document automation processes, procedures, and technical configurations.
- Participate in system testing, deployment, and sustainment activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to monitoring, observability, and automation.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Security+ Certification
- 25 years of experience in systems engineering, automation, DevOps, software development or related technical roles.
- Experience working with Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar).
- Proficiency in Bash scripting for automation and system administration tasks.
- Experience with the ELK Stack, including:
- Elasticsearch
- Kibana dashboard development
- Logstash or data ingestion pipelines
- Familiarity with system monitoring, log aggregation, and operational analytics.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, operating systems, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
- Experience supporting cloud or hybrid environments.
- Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and DevOps practices.
- Experience working in DoD, Intelligence Community, or other classified environments.
- Experience working in Agile development.
