responsibilities:

Architectural Leadership & Strategy

• Define the Enterprise Blueprint: Author the technical roadmap and architectural standards for deploying, scaling, and managing Temporal (Open Source or Temporal Cloud) across the enterprise.
• Cluster & Topology Design: Architect high-availability Temporal cluster topologies, including persistence layer optimization (Cassandra, PostgreSQL, or MySQL), multi-region failover strategies, and custom visibility configurations (Elasticsearch).
• Migration Strategy: Lead the strategic decommissioning of legacy orchestration tools, cron engines, and custom-built state machines, replacing them with clean, durable Temporal workflows.

Guardrails, Governance & Performance

• Establish SDK Standards: Create reusable libraries, boilerplate templates, and best-practice frameworks for developer teams utilizing Temporal SDKs (Go, Java, TypeScript, or Python).
• Performance Tuning: Act as the ultimate escalation point for complex debugging. Optimize worker pools, tune shard allocations, mitigate history size limits, and handle high-throughput/low-latency scaling bottlenecks.
• Security & Compliance: Implement data encryption standards (Data Converter pattern) to ensure sensitive payload data remains secure within Temporal workflows and histories.

qualifications:

Distributed Systems Mastery: 10+ years of experience designing, building, and operating production-grade, highly distributed cloud architectures.

Temporal Expertise: 3+ years of deep, production-level experience architecting solutions explicitly using Temporal.io (or its predecessor, Cadence).

Under the Hood Knowledge: Deep understanding of Temporal internals-specifically how the History service, Matching service, and Worker components interact, and how state is preserved deterministically.

Advanced Orchestration Patterns: Proven track record of implementing complex distributed patterns like the Saga Pattern, long-running loops (months/years), signal/query handling, and child workflows.

Language Proficiency: Expert proficiency in at least one primary Temporal SDK language (Go, Java, TypeScript, or .NET).

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Solid experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) via Terraform or Helm, specifically for hosting Temporal workers and clusters.
