The Code Enforcement Officer/Permit Technician performs a variety of inspection and municipal code enforcement duties with particular emphasis in achieving compliance with all provisions of the zoning ordinance and City Code. Under general supervision, investigates and enforces the municipal code in areas of public welfare, safety, public nuisance, sanitation and health, building, housing, zoning and other ordinances; initiates enforcement action; acts as a secondary/back‑up Permit Processing Technician as needed.Examples of DutiesConducts site visits to investigate complaints regarding code violationsIdentifies violations relating to a variety of codes and regulationsWorks with the public in a positive and cooperative manner to encourage voluntary compliance with codesIssues citations in accordance with applicable lawsProcesses plans and permit applications for reviewCalculates plan check and permitting feesSchedules inspectionsMaintains accurate case filesRECRUITMENT DATES: JUNE 29, 2026 THROUGH AUGUST 7, 2026QualificationsAny combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance will be considered.
