Without a doubt, this will be the most rewarding and meaningful work you'll ever find with a work family that is second to none!What You'll DoMaintain control of the institution to provide safety and security of the facility, inmates, staff, and general public by enforcing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Supervise and direct inmate activity in assigned areas of the facility/institution.Ensure the assigned area is clean, safe, and secure.Monitor and operate security controls, equipment, and computers.Operate automotive vehicles in perimeter security and the transportation of inmates.Conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches.Complete required reports and serve on committees.Prevent escapes or incidents that threaten security.When necessary, use physical force, unarmed self‑defense, firearms, or other force to detain or secure inmates.Receive initial pay at step1 ($24.16) and move to step2 ($24.86) after six months of employment.Earn an additional $0.60 per hour when working 2nd or 3rd shift.Meet the following qualifications: high school diploma or G.E.D.; valid driver's license for transportation positions; commercial driver's license if required for commercial vehicles; successful completion of the correction officer assessment within the past 24 months or current employment with Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction and prior certification as correction officer.
